HOW WE WORK

Summary

Beyond Inclusion (BI) is a national Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that exists to bring positive change to the lives of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and their families or caregivers. Currently BI works with PWDs, their families, communities, and 17 partner organizations in 7 Regions of Tanzania to establish more disability-inclusive, responsive, resilient, and equitable communities. Through Community Based Rehabilitation(CBR) strategy, we empower children and youngsters with disabilities(CYWDs) through a twin-track approach that combines disability mainstreaming and targeted support for persons with disabilities. Empowerment means increasing the children’s and youngsters' personal, social, educational, and economic strengths to become active agents of change in their communities. Therefore, we focus our interventions on Child Development and Enabling Environment.

01

Child Development

This means addressing the child’s impairment, functionality, and self-confidence. This is done through training, surgery, therapy, or the provision of assistive device support.

04

Partnership and network

Beyond Inclusion collaborates with development partners and Partner Organizations to provide services to children and youngsters with disabilities, supporting parents and promoting community inclusion. Funds are channeled to POs, focusing on poverty-stricken youth.

02

Enabling Environment

Reduce environmental barriers for CYWDs by raising awareness, adjusting infrastructure, lobbying, and advocating. Strengthen local partners' capacity for health, education, livelihood, and social development interventions.

05

Donors

BI is grateful for the support of donors and development partners, who have significantly transformed the lives of thousands of Tanzanian children and youngsters with disabilities, and urges all partners to join them in this ambitious and challenging journey.

03

CBR Approach and CBID

Our ultimate objective is Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID). CBID is the desired outcome, whereas CBR is the technique to accomplish the desired outcome. To achieve the CBID aim, we employ Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR).
